GRACE UNITED CHURCH - CALEDONIA

The Work of Grace United is carried out by our Church Council in conjunction with numerous committees who have a designated purpose (e.g. pastoral care), groups with like interests (e.g. Dresser Ministry) and volunteers.

Teller Duty: Volunteers are needed to count Sunday offerings for one month. A small amount of Excel computer work is involved and the process takes about 45 minutes. Contact our Church Treasurer Warren Eastman or Office Administrative Assistant Susan MacDonald for more information.

Christian Development Committee: This committee is responsible for providing Sunday School lessons for children ages 3-11, who are enrolled in our ‘Promiseland’ program and for providing support for those who volunteer in the nursery. We are in need of additional committee members who have a desire to help our children and youth grow in knowledge and faith.

If you are interested in making a difference in the way our youth, age eleven and up, think and react in Today’s world, please contact a member of the Christian Development Committee. We’d like to begin rebuilding our Youth program.

At present, we are in dire need of a willing volunteer or committee member, to organize our church library. Additionally, one or more persons are needed to maintain the organization. Please contact Committee Chair Laurie Schaeffer if you can help.

Choir:  There are empty spaces in our choir loft! We would be pleased to have you sing with us at our practice time on Thursday evenings at 7 p.m. and on a Sunday morning. We are delighted that Joe Calverley has joined the Grace family as our Organist and Choir Director. Thanks to his guidance, musical talent and knowledge, our songs of praise become richer each week.

Pastoral Care Committee: Volunteers are needed to visit the sick and housebound. We also need mentors for newcomers. Please contact Committee Chair Bev Layden for more information.

Music and Worship Committee: Are you interested in helping to shape the way we worship God in our Sunday and celebration services (e.g. Christmas)? If so, please join us. We’d like your input, as together we learn and discover.

Amazing Grace’: Our ‘Amazing Grace’ newsletter, published monthly, is filled with uplifting, helpful and humorous material, which has been given to our Editor-in-chief Audrey Derii by church members. Regrettably, Audrey’s tenure ends in June 2009. We need someone who is interested in taking over this position and who has computer knowledge. This small but enlightening publication is enjoyed and looked forward to, by our congregation. Let’s keep it alive!

Communion Elements: Volunteers needed to purchase communion bread and prepare the elements on scheduled Communion Sundays. Clean up the elements and keep the communion equipment clean and organized ...

Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteering can deliver a wealth of benefits. Self-worth, great fun, friendships and job opportunities can all be part of getting involved with your community. Volunteering may be an outlet for your natural talents, a road-test for your new career, or simply a handy way to meet new friends. Your strong beliefs and values may also inspire you to volunteer.
