SMALL GROUP MINISTRIES
Mandate
To lead our congregation in the successful co-ordination and application of small ( 3-15 members) group ministries. To provide Guidance and resources for those considering initiating a small group as well as being the voice for such groups at Church Council Meetings.
Accountability: This committee is a Standing Committee accountable to the Church Council of Grace United Church.
Responsibilities:
- to provide the congregation with an understanding of small group ministry through education.
- to recognize / recommend opportunities to apply small group ministry.
- to provide training and resources for small groups so that they can identify their individual purpose as well as logistical matters like how often should meetings be, how to run a successful group etc.
- to coordinate the activity of small groups in order to ensure that the needs of the congregation are being well served in that a "new" small group is not doing double duty for another committee that already exists. If there is any questions or doubt about this regard, act as liaison better the two groups.
- To represent small group interest and needs at Church Council. If necessary, a member of the small group may attend Church Council with the Small Groups representative to ensure that their issues are well represented.
